St. Thomas' School, Wigan

Learning times tables is an essential skill that many children find difficult or laborious. Finding a way for children to practice these skills is both challenging and entertaining, is the ultimate aim of every primary school teacher. Crazy Tables fits the bill.

Crazy Tables is a great classroom resource. It engages children's enthusiasm and allows them to be independent learners by letting them set their own targets:

"I'll beat my score"

"I'll increase the number of tiles I use"

"I'll challenge my partner to a timed competition"

As a teacher I know that the group that are using Crazy Tables are on task and engrossed in their learning. This allows me to work with other groups, confident that all the class are engaged in learning.

In St Thomas' Crazy Tables has been used in all year groups from Yr1 - Yr6. The format of the game allows it to be tailored to the needs of each year group and linked to the objectives of numeracy lessons. If there is a problem with Crazy Tables, it's just that we haven't got enough of them!
